Over too fast
To be honest, I felt this story was finished way too fast. There was a lot of build up and then the final scenes just let it all down. It was a very quick read though, which I was happy by. I’m so sorry for the really late review. I actually read this book a couple months back, so my descriptions etc. might not be fully accurate. I did leave notes for myself, and I do remember the story, I just don’t remember the characters names. Mr Alexander maybe?
I guess I felt like I was starting to know the characters and the small town. I mean, you have this *spoiler alert* ex-boxer guy, who has ex-cop friends, who stumbled onto something bigger than himself. I quite like the overall plot. It was interesting and had enough pace to keep the story running. I’m not sure if I buy the whole dating someone younger than you by twenty years or so thing. Not sure what’s going on there, but good for him, right?
I feel like parts of the story were just tacked on. *Spoiler alert* Like his relationship with his daughter and ex-wife. If I’m being brutally honest, I’m not sure what they brought to the story other than trying to flesh out Mr Alexander. I also wasn’t shocked by the main bad-guy behind everything. I thought there would be more of a twist to it all, but there wasn’t. I also thought that the end fight scenes dragged out a bit. To me, fight scenes should read quick and dirty. You don’t need to explain every move made, play by play.
Overall, I thought it was okay. I mean, it’s a thriller novel. But there were some weak parts throughout the book which made me give it three stars. I definitely think that if this is your genre, you’ll probably like this because I’m pretty sure it follows all the rules and ticks all the boxes.

Note about this review
I received a copy of the book from the author for an honest review. I always try my best to balance the reviews and not favour any one person (though I may be a bit subjective when it comes to the genre).
